Part 4 of Paul "Blue" Hartridge's travels throughout the US visiting boatsailors and other folks of equally questionable character.

Leg 9 - Denver, Colorado - 3/2/2004 - Host Glenn

Glenn and I joined the RAN back in 10-01-79 (now that's the 10th of January ok guys), he now resides here in Denver. Today we went out to Buffalo Bill's grave and looked around. He died on a 10th of January.

We stopped for a meal at some place and whilst waiting for the meal, Glenn picked up a booklet which coincidentally was all about 1979, strange forces afoot here!

Just been to the airport and changed my tickets, I have booked a ticket from Houston to Orlando ( I needed to for a start and it saves me a day or two on the train) that is for the 17th of March so I need to see people by then.

Then my next flight has changed from 31st of March to 20th April... so I can take part in the CSS Hunley event (Steamboat, I need to chat with you soon I suppose, e-mail you when I can)

Having a great time guys... next stop is Scooter in Cheyenne and then Cora in Rapid City (have sent you an e-mail) then over to Minneapolis to see 'Dickhead'.

Blue and ex-shipmate Glenn and some sheila at the Outback (at the end of the evening, the only thing bloomin' was the onion!) And Buffalo Bill's grave.

Leg 10 - Cheyenne, Wyoming - 3/4/2004 - Host: Ron "Scooter" Pedron

G'day Don,

I am here in Cheyenne with Scooter (Ron Pedron).  Unfortunately I am not able to download any pictures at the moment so will just have to wait until I can.

It has tried to snow a little here today, wished it was more but that's life.
Went to a wild west type of museum and then the State museum also.  Ron and his wife Mel took me to a local pub, The Outlaw, had a few drinks, actually more than a few drinks and awoke with a slight hangover..doing that again tonight but as I am going to Rapid City to see Cora and Dakota Slim I had best behave...damn! :-)

Scooter followup on 3/7: No kidding Blue, you bailed out just in time to miss the ugly weather! Our famous Wyoming wind fired up again about the time you were 1/2 way to Rapid City. The record high speed gust in the last 24 hours was 88 miles per hour here and 111 on the summit between here and Laramie (home of Wyo University) In Blue's group pic from Cheyenne is Heather the bikini bull riding champ (far left side) her sister Heidi (front)Lisa is the brunette and Melanie (Mrs Scooter) far right. I notice you didn't send in the group pics with the girls, you and us ugly guys LOL. - Scooter

Blue *finally* meets some sheilas (we were beginning to wonder about our mate from Oz!)

Leg 11 - Rapid City, South Dakota - 3/6/2004 - Hosts: Corabelle and Dakota Slim

G'day guys,

Had a ball being with Scooter and his wife Melanie. Boy was it cold, got down to about 25f I think from memory. Realising I left at least a day too early as was getting on quite well with some of the lovely ladies there... one even being the Bikini bull riding" champion! (from Ron...Yep, we have a winter "sport" here of putting girls in bikinis and throwing them on a mechanical bull). The last time around Heather won wearing a white thong bikini and black leather cowboy chaps. Sigh, maybe I could miss the rest of the tour and head back to Cheyenne, what do you guys reckon???

Just been to see Mt Rushmore, you know, the mountain with 4 President's faces on it... then over to Crazy Horse mountain... both spectacular and COLD! A bit of snow fall whilst I was there too... lovely *_*

Great to meet Cora and Dakota Slim (her brother, Elmer). That's it for now folks... and when I get the pictures of the girls uploaded... phroaaahh... watch out, don't say I didn't warn you!

Blue *_*

Blue and four guys with only slightly less hair (not counting the bushy tree growing out of Lincoln's nose). In the group photo is Corabelle's brother Elmer (aka Dakota Slim), Cora, Blue and Cora's grandson Josh.

That's the Crazy Horse monument behind Blue. Then having pizza are Blue, Elmer/Dakota Slim and Elmer's friend Bruce Meister who, says Blue, "...runs a pizza shop in Rapid City, he was a Sonar type of guy.  Btw the pizza was fantastic!"

Again at BJ's Grinder King (with Cora this time), "Big Talkin' Blue" shying away from yet another sheila, and Dakota, Josh and Blue having a little "bottoms up."
