Leg 7 - Seattle, WA - 2/26/2004 - Hosts: Ric Hedman, John Clear

Ric picked Blue up at the train station and they met Cliff Nutter and Dave Goodson for dinner. The next morning, Blue and Ric joined up with Don Gentry and Peter McCafferty and they jumped on a Bremerton-bound ferry to hook up with John Clear.  John treated us to a tour of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the Keyport Undersea Museum, Deterrent Park on the SubBase, a side trip to the exchange, then on to the Horse and Cow (nice orchestration John!!)  Blue will be staying with John tonight in Port Ludlow. More to come as others report in.

Photos from John Clear:

From John Clear (Blue stayed at John's house on the night of the 27th): Took Blue to the Clearwater Casino on Saturday morning - then the ferry... Millie and I went back to the casino after dropping him off, stayed 'till 0200 and walked away to the good - tell Blue!

Leg 8 - McCall, Idaho - 2/28/2004 - Host: Bob Perry

G'day Don,

Here I am in McCall Idaho with Bob and Debbie Perry, they picked me up in the wee hours down there in Ontario and then drove me two hours to their home.  First though we stopped at a pancake restaeraunt and I failed to complete the breakfast (don't tell my Aussie shipmates that, I will never live it down!) [Oops, Ed.]

Great to see heaps of snow at last.  Bob let me have some fun on his snowmobile for an hour or two and then have a go at the snow clearer (whatever the correct name is..Plough?) [Looks like a snow blower to me Blue]

Just been out for another meal, this time, chinese....and yes, I ate it all. ( 1 hour later and I am hungry again, lol )

Leaving early for Salt Lake City tomorrow and then have to kill some hours before catching an early train to Denver - I may look at flying depending on the cost.

Blue.

Bob Perry: Well, I have had the pleasure of meeting Blue. Quite the guy. My wife, Debbie and I took him to the local eatery and he ordered No. 2. It was 2 (about 14"X 1/2") pancakes, 2 eggs, and bacon. The guy couldn't hack it. Got him to the house and most of the time he was in the snow. Got him on a snowmobile and he went nuts. Out in the field he would get that thing going till he was almost bounced off. Seem that he really had some fun. I got a couple pix of him sipping along but have no idea how to get them posted. It's easy to say Blue really thought that snow was something.

Now being the perfect host that I am I thought it best to make him pay for some of his keep. What better way then clearing some snow. Put him on the ol' tractor and set him loose. Looked like he thought that was neat too. Oh well, I tried. Went to a Chinese place for dinner that night and early (I mean EARLY) Monday morning I drove him down to Boise and he was off to SLC to Denver. I have to tellya, he was a real nice guy and hope to see him again someday. Thanks for the time.........Bob
