Is water ice present or absent in a crater near the Moon's south pole? NASA's Lunar Crater Observing and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) mission is seeking a definitive answer by intentionally crashing a spacecraft into the Moon.

...well, couldn't see the actual impact live. Will have to look at results of other scopes photographing the event to be posted online. The impact was probably too deep in the target crater or too diffuse to be picked up by the 36 inch telescope the live feed was using.
