At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

Of course Dantini and I will be there as participants, vendors for "Submarine Memorabilia", Film Fest Hosts, reunion coordinators and a 50th anniversary organizer!  In our free time (?) we hope to see some sights.  Looking for volunteers to help with manning our sales tables, payment by good cognac or your choice.  Latest addition is a raffle for this beauty:

John, is that the model that was up at SBNL???  Whether it is or isn't, it's a great model of the Flasher.

I've been to San Diego three times. The first time was for Navy boot camp. The second was during the Cuban missle crisis to load warshots and was told by the base commander, along with the entire crew, to leave and never return again. The last time was in 1989 when I drove down the West coast from Washington State to San Diego and visited the zoo. The air museum had long since burned down.

Patti, nope to the SBNL model, this was assembled by a local model builder from the Revell 52" Gato model kit - he did a SUPERB job!

I'll be there, Mon evening to Sat morning.  I've signed up for golf, dinner cruise, base tour; the rest of it for schmoozing with fellow subvets. (And whatever else plucks my twanger.)
Are there going to be any BBS 'meet your on-line shipmates' type gatherings?
Second - are there any other pool shooters attending? It's been a few years since I've enjoyed playing 8 ball.

O.K. Bob, bring your pool table, I'll show you how to use it!  8 Ball. Rotation, call ball, you name it I'll play it... I've got my sneaky Pete, 21 oz stick around here someplace... TSpoon remembers paying for a few lessons down in the Key West days at the Gate Bar...
