At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

Stores are FULL to the brim with empty shelving where fans and a/c units used to be.  Brrrrrr......

We didn't have that high temp, but the HUMIDITY made it feel like it...I didn't think it could go up above 100%, but it felt like it was about 200%.

Our a/c upstairs crapped out last night...but Garry had gone earlier in the day to price a new one...and they were charging almost $300 for the same one we have...which we pd. $159 for last year.  Nope, our shelves are still pretty full here.

With the climate so moderate most time heres, A/C is rare in a home.  I'm sitting here with a fan blowing on me and a second one blowing on the pooch!

Oh my...now that's a "good daddy"...letting the pooch have her own fan!!!  We just turned the A/C off in the LR for a bit, but now I can feel the "wetness" starting to build up again.  We are still under "storm warning" here...I can hear the thunder in the background.  It's just been so crazy!!!

I was talking to Denisse this afternoon on her dive home and she passed a temperature reader board that said 111. Been over 95+ all day in my place.

I'm keeping cool by wearing ice pack gel packs on the top of my head and the occasional bag of frozen hash browns. Cat and I sat in the car yesterday for an hour with the AC on full.

This weather is unprecedented in this part of the country. 75 to 85 is normal hot for us.

Ric,

One would think that placing a bag of frozen hash browns on your head is a bit redundant, don't you think?  I mean, how does one determine where Hedman ends and the freezer bag starts??  Lord knows the discontinuities of the internal contents are not discernable.

Keeping his brain on ice sounds about right for the Ricster.

Portland, OR was going for a record on Wednesday, but didn't make it. It hit 108 south of Portland. Down to 100 on Thursday. It has never been over a 100 for four days in a row in Portland.
