So our Navy ships operate under the authority of varios UN resolutions to interdict ships on the high seas. I can understand that. But it would seem like the Coast Guard would not fit easily in that authority since they are now under Homeland Securty and not an arm of DOD. Or perhaps do the Coasties now come under Navy authority when operating overseas in wartime?? I am not knocking the CG, exactually the oposite, these guys have been doing an admirable job since 9-11, and also during Katrina. I am just curious as to thier military status overseas nowadays.
