Just got back from our annual pilgrimage to Albany here in West Oz to commemorate the US Boats lost in WWII.
Attached photo is of LCDR Paul Varnadore and CPO Craig Werley both attached to the Staff of the Commander Australian Force Element Group Submarines (SMFEG).
Both true gentlemen and very smart operators.

These two Ladies are the last surviving Widows of American Submariners from WW II Kath Pouleras and Doreen Anderson, Doreen is extremely unwell but still made the 4.5 hour drive from Rockingham with her tribe of descendants whilst Kath is still powering along like a teenager.
At the link below you'll see Photo's of Carl Uphoff, Aurthur Bancroft and Mirla (2005) who are also now very unwell and unable to make the trip anymore, sadly time is marching on.

Thanks POD. Great to see Ya'll still pay tribute to our Submariners. Also great to see we still have active duty DIESEL qualified Submariners, though they had to go Down Under to do it!!

POD thanks for sharing the real faces of what Memorial Day Remembrance is about. It is moving to see the wives wearing their husbands vest (what an honor). Having visiting my friend Rea at the
Australian Memorial Museum and learning about Anzac Day/Remembrance Day. Getting my personal Australian Gold Dolphins from him and feeling how deep your military traditions and rememrances are. Your post ECHO's the feeling I brought home with me in 2006. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for reminding me of it and the pictures you shared.
Humbly
