At random: Long considered a versatile and deadly instrument of war, the submarine has broadened her capabilities with the adoption of nuclear power. Today the submarine serves as a ballistic missile platform, early warning station, killer of surface and underwater vessels, scout, coastal raider troop transport, supply ship, mine layer, and seaplane tender.

Electric Boats today are far advanced compared to the boats we went to sea on. New technology has hit the non nucs. that other countries are developing and using. I understand there are technologies out there that we have never dreamed of.

Steve,
SSSBS is the brainchild of one Mike Bickel who served on Sirago, way back when. We held a 3 ship reunion in Mobile, Ala. in 2007, with Sea Leopard and Cutlass. It was great, lots of Sea Leopard folk showed. He thought of this as we were preparing for our 2009 reunion in Virginia Beach. I guess he figured that if 3 boats can get together, why not SubRon 6. He found the names of all the boats who ever was in the squadron and is inviting them all....

As you probably know Squadron 6 was originally in Panama.  It wasn't until 1949 that it was moved to Norfolk. and  the squadron boats were re-assigned up to bases and down the East coast.

A bunch of NLON boats were in SUBRON 6 when it was in Panama, Sea Robin, Se Owl included.

OK Joe, I saw that.

My post was just a comment that the list above did not seem to include ALL the boats of Squadron 6, some of which served while the Squadron was based in Panama prior to 1949.

I don't have a full listed of them, but do know of a couple.
