The TRITON was designed for a surface displacement of 5,900 tons. Large submarines of other countries have been the Japanese I-400 (5,220 tons), and the French SURCOUF (2,880 tons).

Subject: Australia Plans Naval Build Up

In my job, I work with business people in China and Ocean Freight Carriers. So, I have an interest in China.

One thing that is not clear to me is what China's military ambitions are long term.

Here is an article about the projected military direction of Australia.
