One version of the Sidewinder the AIM-9C, had a semi-active radar guidance system and was eventually transformed into the Sidearm air to ground anti-radiation missile. I don't believe there are any in use anymore but I've had my hand on one at our Base Museum.
But your point is correct - it is bad info in the article. The Brits would be using ALARM anyways.

I am pretty sure that the U.S. uses the HARM missile for taking out radar sites. |

HARM is the standard, but that does not change anything I said.
Sidearm was developed and deployed and it was based on the AIM9-C Sidewinder.
