Technically, and by size, the submarine is a ship, but it has been called a boat since its earliest days, and the term is steeped in tradition. Submariners almost invariably call their ships 'boats".

WALTER CURTIS CREWS, Beloved husband of Charlotte. Dear father of Joy Crews Lubeck (David), Paula Crews Bond (Todd), Curt Samuel Crews (Rochelle), Amy Gilbert (Rick), Lisa Majercik, Rich Lowrie (Rhonda) and Mark Lowrie. Loving grandfather of Evan and Brian Lubeck, Alexandra Fascilla, Jenarae Bond, Lee and Kelly Gilbert, Andrew, Mark and Charlotte Majercik and Rachel and Ryann Lowrie. Brother of Elma Mae Razem. Former husband of the late Nada Pavlovich Crews. Longtime Director of Choral Music at Bay Village Middle and High Schools. Longtime Choral Director for several west side churches. Passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to the Curt Crews Choral Scholarship Fund, at Bay Village High School, 29230 Wolf Rd., Bay Village, OH 44140. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorial service at WESTSHORE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH, 20401 HILLIARD RD., ROCKY RIVER, Thursday, March 26, at 4 p.m. Family will receive friends at the CHURCH FROM 3 - 4 P.M., THURSDAY.
