FORBES, Robert Henry, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Bob was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School, Class of 1942. He was a veteran of both WW II and the Korean Conflict, having served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S Navy-Submarine Service. He was a member of American Legion Crown Point Post #20, BPOE East Chicago/Highland No. 981; and the Goodfellows of East Chicago. He was a retired Supervisor from Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV Indiana works) after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Reardon Forbes and his second wife of 15 years, Janice Daronatsy Forbes, his brother, James C. Forbes, Jr. and his parents, James & Mabel Forbes. He is survived by 2 sisters, Marilynne J. (Arnold) Besse of Michigan City, IN, and Sandra J. (Honorable Ronald W.) Olson, M.D. of Chicago, IL; fond uncle of Ron Olson, Jr., Kirsten Ann Olson, Kathleen Patterson, James C. Forbes, III, Marianne Todd, Brian Forbes, M.D.; loving step-children, Nana, Russell, Arthur Daronatsy. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, Rev. Dennis Blaney officiating. Services will terminate at the funeral home with cremation at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory. Friends may meet with the family at Burns Funeral Home, on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. American Legion and US Navy will conclude the service at 4:30 p.m. Private interment of cremains will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, IN. LITTEN, Leslie Chester (affectionately known as Shark or Sharky), 85, passed away early Saturday morning, March 21st 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 22, 1923, in Santa Maria, California to Elmore and Evelyn Litten. Leslie served in the Navy during World War II aboard the submarine USS Pomfret (SS-391) in the Pacific. He graduated from Cal Poly with an engineering degree in 1950. As an electrical engineer he supervised many large electrical contracts, including missile sites, throughout the country. In his younger years he enjoyed flying his airplane, camping and water skiing on Lake San Antonio with his speed boat "NOT TOO SHABBY". Throughout his life he was an avid reader, loved to hunt and fish and was a proud member of the NRA. He traveled all over the world. Leslie continued a family tradition, started by his parents, of camping with family and friends over Memorial Weekend every year. The tradition started at Santa Lucia Memorial Park and continued at his property near Templeton. After his retirement he enjoyed tending his walnut and fruit tree orchard. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmore, mother Evelyn and wife of 48 years, Shirley. He is survived by his sister Vivian Dutton and brother Babe Litten, daughters, Jeannie Barrackman and her husband Charlie; Diane Cox and her husband Jon; son, Steve Litten and his wife Elsa, of Nipomo; and step-daughter Peggy Koens and her husband Wayne, of Visalia; grandchildren, Brad Barrackman, Chad Barrackman, Arlo Hicks, Amy, Andrew, and James Cox, Leanna Litten, Kelli Koens Moussa and Katie Koens. Great-grandchildren, Kasey and Cody Barrackman, Jack Barrackman, Sadie and Joey Moussa, an aunt, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. We love you Dad/Grandpa. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 30th from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary. Immediately after, at 1:00 pm, a graveside service will be held at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
