Sri Lankan troops find LTTE submarine in Mullaitivu

Jan 29, Colombo: Sri Lankan troops consolidating their positions in the former LTTE Tiger bastion of Mullaitivu recovered an LTTE underwater craft along with three suicide boats during a search operation.

Task Force-3 troops found the submarine type underwater craft at Udayarkattu area in Mullaitivu District this morning, Defence Ministry officials said.

The 631 brigade of the Army's Task Force 3 found the craft and several other fast attack crafts of the LTTE's Sea Tiger wing, said the officials.

Prior to falling into Sri Lankan troops’ hands Mullaitivu was a major east coast Sea Tiger base used for arms smuggling operations. Mullaitivu was captured by the troops Sunday (25).

LTTE is the only terrorist organization in the world that possess naval and air crafts.
