At random: The United States submarine USS TRITON was fitted with twin reactors and was considered the longest submarine ever built until the advent of the OHIO class. The TRITON was designed for a surface displacement of 5,900 tons. Large submarines of other countries have been the Japanese I-400 (5,220 tons), and the French SURCOUF (2,880 tons).

Subject: Purple Hearts for POW'S

There has been a change in policy. Retroactive to December 7th 1941, POW'S who died in captivity can now quillify for the Purple Heart.

A lot of good it does them now. I've always felt it was disgraceful not to have awarded them at least Purple Hearts for what they went through. If a Purple Heart could be awarded to some political slacker for a "paper cut" then those troops should of had them on their return to freedom. If Bronze Stars can be handed out for "Atta Boy" than the POWs should have gotten them also.

I agree 100 percent. It seems dumb to think that a young man, physically fit enough for combat, would die from "natural causes" while being a POW.
