At random: Interests in submarines extends to royalty and presidents. The King of England and the King and Queen of Spain are among those who have made submerged cruises in submarines. As a result of a trip in an early United States submarine, President "Teddy" Roosevelt ordered extra compensation for personnel serving in the "Silent Service." President Harry Truman made a 440 foot dive in a captured German submarine. The first President to cruise aboard a nuclear submarine was President Eisenhower who rode the USS SEAWOLF out of Newport, Rhode Island on September 26, 1957.

I just got a note in the mail from MOMM1(SS) Dallas Dolan in Portland, OR who "attempted" to pay for the patrol reports of the three boats he was stationed aboard during the war (Haddock, Pogy and Kete - lost right after he transferred to the Proteus).  I sent his check back with all of the reports on disc and a note!

All of you are "supposed to be" looking out for these guys for us.  Get them to make contact and we will provide these reports to them free as we have been doing since day one.  Thanks in advance for any help...

Hey Owen!  How about posting a scan of the letter from the Naval Academy to let the others see what they sent you?  Thanks in advance...

Cora, You should be able to go to the body of the letter and left click which will enlarge it then scan across moving as necessary to read.
