Thanks for sharing that with me -- what size is the display of the 52 boats -- right now not sure of total layout but it will be large since it will hold over 210 patches when completed --- still waiting to hear how much space I will be allotted but many sizes come to mind 6 x 8 with separate header
or 4 x 16 so viewing can be at level for all to see and read -- will have to wait until all patches received and layout begins --- keep you posted as the project moves forward.. It is heart warming to have individuals sending them some have come out of scrapabooks and off shirts hidden in closets for many years - others are being purchased and donated by bases, individuals, and relatives- all will be recognized after project is finished and noted on the back of the patches ---

Thanks to everyone for caring, and passing the information on the project to their friends and bases

SKI, This was a 4' x 6' layout with the 52 boats lost shown left to right, top to bottom.  Quite a few of these boats never had their own patch while in commission, most were made up by BC Patches after the fact...  Is the theme of your project the lost boats, the boats on patrol in WWII or what?  As there were 211 boats commissioned prior to the outbreak of WWII, 265 boats that made a patrol during the war, 52 boats lost during the war and 65 boats lost overall.  Of course you can always go for all boats commissioned if you have your own billboard to handle close to 800 - LOL

At present plans are to concentrate on the 211 boats commissioned during 42-45 time frame -- sections will be (1) Lost Boats including Scorpion and Thresher (2) Boats with patches designed by
Disney (3) Unique patch designs other than (1) and (2) (4) Balance of boats - current projection would be 213 patches - All plans are still being formulated and will be finalized when all patches
received and layout done to see best way to maximize space as the Museum will only give me so much space (still waitiing for that decision from their board).

The whole purpose is to honor the Submarine Force in American's Veteran's City where there is no recognition of submarines to speak of.

Not sure what will be the final product but so far very encouraged by the participation of so many thus far and just hope it continues. Keep in mind it has to have a start and finish and it will not
be satisfying to everyone but will be practical and complete as possible for those boats commissioiined from 1942 - 1945. All suggestions welcome - email is rjarenski@aol.com.

Thanks to Earnest Zeke Zellmer for the one of 50 patches he did for his living shipmates of the
USS CAVALLA SSK244 - This will adorn our Museum Boats section and be a proud memory and
history of those that served proudly during WWII. It is this personal donation of patches by those
that served that is making this memorial special -- thanks Gil Raynor of Raynor Associates for
communcating and sending this to us.

Another step to completion of this project the Museum Boat Section

Thanks so much Bear I will add them to my received list.

Today I received from Al and Terry Hahn three Irex Patches including the infamous Snorkel patch designed by John Dickey Xo from 56 - 58. That will find a home in the unusual patch section of
the display as well as there inaugral patch. The Irex had the first installation of the snorkel in 45.

Thanks so much Al and Terry and to everyone that is responding so wonderfully to our project for
Branson of WWII patches to honor all our WWII submarines commissioned and lost.

I will soon post a numerical listing of patches received and needed most likely in January after the
holidays -

Happy holidays to everyone.
