BIERWIRTH, William August, 83, of West Haven, CT died Thursday, November 6, 2008. William was born on September 8, 1925, in Wauwatosa, Wis. He was the son of the late August and Jennie Bierwirth. Bill was a US Navy veteran of World War II and received the submarine combat insignia with two stars, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal and the Phillipine Liberation medal with two stars. Bill retired from Fermont of Bridgeport, where he worked for 21 years as a traffic manager. Survivors include his wife, Carole Blaze Bierwirth of West Haven; three sons, Alan (Chris) of Milford, Glen (Judy) of New Haven , Lance of Chicago, Ill.; a stepson, Daniel Nobili of Lake Worth, Fla.; three grandchildren, Gina Oleaczyk, Matthew and Stephen Bierwirth; 11 step-grandchildren; and a great-grandson, Evan; seven step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 21 Robert Treat Pkwy, Milford. Donations may be made to Hospice, Shelton Team, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, 3rd Floor, Shelton, CT 06480. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, was entrusted with arrangements.
