Wow, I've never been to sea in a boat with anything close to that as a test depth.  I wonder if the German criteria for test depth was the same as ours.

I've been deeper but not many times. Test Depth just means you CAN go that deep safely but the more times you do it you keep placing undue stress on the hull. At test depth the hull will let you know it is unhappy. By doing so you are probably shortening the life of your hull. A boat probably spends most of its life at half or less of that depth.
