SANDOE .. ... David Sandoe died December 28, 2023 suddenly after a short decline in health. 
David is survived by his two children, Mark Sandoe (Sherrel), Lori Cleasby (Mike) and two grandchildren, Jeff Cleasby (Katie) and Jennifer Johnson (Dean) and two great grandchildren Lila and Dean Johnson and many nieces and nephews. 
David was born August 8, 1930 in Washington, D.C. He served in the Navy from 2/1949 to 12/1983 serving as diesel engineman on multiple submarines. He received 4 Navy good conduct medals, 6 Naval Reserve meritorious service medals, national defense service medal, naval reserve medal, and armed forces reserve medal. He was married to Lila Pennock on 9/3/1955 for 55years . She passed on 12/20/2010. 
David pursued a career as a linotype operator in Silver Springs MD, then as a proofreader at Rumford Press in Concord NH, all the while serving in the Naval Reserve. 

David and Lila raised their children in East Concord, NH and later purchased a piece of land in Bethlehem, NH where they built a log cabin (Lila's Love) to enjoy in later years. David loved the news and kept up with all the current events-political and otherwise and distributed multiple emails daily to his entire family. He also frequently wrote Letters to the Editor in the Concord Monitor with his opinions. 
David loved to travel. He and his grandson Jeff attended many airshows together. David spent a lot of time with his granddaughter Jennifer and their family –recently taking a trip to Disney World in Florida. 
David was the eldest of three boys born to his parents David Jr. and Lillian.  He is survived by his youngest brother Paul who is currently living in Charlestown, SC. He is pre-deceased by his brother John, formerly of Ocean Pines, MD. 

There will be no wake or service at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the veterans support group of your choice.  There will be a small gathering at interment at the Boscawen Veterans Cemetery at a future date to be announced.

WHEELER .. ... Bernard “Bernie” L. Wheeler, 83, of Zanesville, died at 7:05 A.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 17, 1940, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late Arthur and Stella (Patterson) Wheeler. Bernie was a self-employed business owner of Wheeler’s HYD, he was a member of Claysville Methodist Church, the Amrou Grotto Prophets Park No. 45 and Gauge and Gavel No. 448 of Chandlersville. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Zanesville after serving his country for 20 years in the United States Navy, where he was an elite member of the “silent” service… submarine service. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Kay (Stiers) Wheeler whom he married November 15, 1958; two sons, Douglas (Lisa) Wheeler and Dan (Deborah) Wheeler; grandchildren, Adam (Hillary) Wheeler, Nathan (Heather) Wheeler, Justin Wheeler, Patrick (Bethany) Wheeler; great grandchildren, Rory and Zinnia Wheeler and Elijah, Josiah, Isiah and Nehemiah Wheeler; and special second cousins, Sandy (Bill) Myers and Pam (Dwight) Robinson.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Sandra Kay Wheeler.
Friends and family may call from 3:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Grotto Services to be held at 4:45 P.M. with full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Color Guard Post 29 following Grotto service on the lawn.
