NACE .. .. .Larry D. Nace, Age 87, of Tolar, TX, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Larry, known as Dad, Pops, and Grampa Horsey to his family was born on February 15, 1936 to parents Abraham and Rosella Nace. The first born of five children, he was raised in York County Pennsylvania and graduated from West York High School in 1953. Larry continued his education and graduated from Penn State University, class of 1957 via a Navy ROTC Scholarship. Subsequently, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. While stationed on the USS Henry B Wilson (DDG-7), a guided missile destroyer at the Boston Naval Yard in 1960, he met the love of his life, Penny. The highlight of his 20-year Naval career was serving as the Commanding Officer of the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, USS Kamehameha (SSBN-642). Upon retiring from the US Navy at the rank of Commander in 1977, he was employed as Project Manager for Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation in Boston, MA from 1977-1986. In 1986, he moved his family to Tolar, Texas and served as Vice President, Engineering and Construction for Texas Utilities until his retirement in 1997. While he was employed at Texas Utilities, he was instrumental in the completion and licensing of the Commanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose, TX. Larry's passion during his retirement was raising and showing champion Arabian Horses, many of which won Arabian National Championships. Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and lived out the rest of his days providing guidance and unfaltering love to his family and 4-legged friends.
Larry was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sandy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Penelope Sloane (Penny) and four children, Larry II (Jackie) of Satellite Beach, FL., Jeff (Kelli) of Boston, MA, Lisa D'Addario of East Hampstead, NH and Kim Rains (David) of Granbury, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ryan Nace (fiancé Paige), Ethan Rains (Lani), Seth Rains, Tyler Rains, Ava Nace, Joshua D'Addario, Bailee Nace and Evan Nace. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard (Elaine), Gerald and Bryan (Karen).
Visiting Hours will be held at the Wiley Funeral Center, 400 Highway 377 East, Granbury, TX on Wednesday, December 27 from 5 to 7PM. Larry's funeral will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, at 1PM. Interment at Long Creek Cemetery, Granbury, with Military Rites.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cathedral of the Pines Foundation (War Memorial) in Rindge, NH.

CORNWELL .. .. .Harvey D. Cornwell, age 91, of Havelock, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Harvey Dean Cornwell was born on May 9, 1932, near Havelock, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Julia (Dunn) Cornwell. He was educated in Havelock Schools. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1951 – 1955. He was stationed on the USS Bugara Submarine and ported out of Pearl Harbor. He then moved to Adams, Minnesota where he began farming. On August 31, 1957, Harvey was united in marriage to Geraldine Aden at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in Minnesota for three years and then returned to Pocahontas County. They farmed west of Pocahontas for a year before moving to a farm northeast of Laurens where they lived for twenty-six years. In 1987, they moved to the home place north of Havelock. Geraldine passed away in 2018 and Harvey continued to live on the farm.
Harvey especially loved the time he spent living and working on the farm.
Survivors include his two sons, Joel Cornwell and Dale Cornwell both of Mallard; brothers, Jeral Cornwell of Grand Meadow, MN and Dalton Cornwell of Bentonville, AR, and a sister, Therma Fitzgerald of Lime Springs.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine; an infant daughter, Linda, and sisters, Marion Burgett and Judith Dempewolf.




KIMBRELL .. .. David Allen Kimbrell was born in Staunton Virginia on June 25, 1954 to Martha and Vaughn Kimbrell who both preceded him in death. David passed from this world at 3:45 pm on Dec. 14, 2023 surrounded by family after a 4 month battle with cancer.
David is survived by his sister Laura Vines and her husband Jim Vines and 2 nieces and their families: his step mother Carolyn Kimbrell all from Virginia. He was survived by his wife of 27 years Paula Kimbrell; 3 step sons and their wives Christopher and Angela McKenzie, Michael and Amanda McKenzie and Steven and Danielle McKenzie; 9 grandchildren Katelyn Bowser, Tyler McKenzie, Ian McKenzie and wife Valeria; Alec McKenzie and wife Megan and their kids Greyson and Addison McKenzie; Emma Coburn, Zachary McKenzie, Ashton McKenzie, Cale McKenzie, and Jacob McKenzie all in Oklahoma. Having no children of his own he embraced being a grandparent and was so proud of his grandkids and loved them fiercely.
David was a prolific reader, historian and model builder who had numerous articles published in several magazines. He was active in several model organizations. Dave's passion was model building and was a true artist. His dioramas were awe inspiring in their attention to detail and historic accuracy. Dave judged others at the national conventions held every year across the nation and was considered an expert in the field.
Dave proudly served 4 years in the US Navy aboard a submarine and battleship. He owned a music / instrument store in Virginia before he moved back to Oklahoma and became an inspector for oil pipeline for nearly 30 years.Harvey D.
