SKARBO .. .. Peter K. Skarbo, 81, of Westport, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Pettey) Skarbo with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. Mr. Skarbo (“Pete”)was born in Seattle, WA and was the son of the late Rev. Martin K. and Lilly W. (Pedersen) Skarbo. He had resided in Westport for the last 6 years. He graduated from Castle Rock High School, Castle Rock, WA in 1961 and then attended the University of Puget Sound. 
A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Pete served in the Submarine Service and was an instructor at the Trident Nuclear Submarine Great Lakes Training Center. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a computer programmer for Alaska Option Services Corporation in Anchorage, AK. He started his own company E*T, Inc. (an electronic services company) and worked as an IT consultant supporting ATM and Point of Sale systems in the US, Italy, Mexico, and England from 1994 to 2012.  Survivors along with his wife include his son: Lance E. Skarbo of Prosser, WA; his daughter: Alicia D. Fox of Benton City, WA; his stepson: Matthew E. Ward of Haymarket, VA; and 8 grandchildren.
Pete’s lifelong passions were for boating and electronics. He generously used his technical proficiency to help family and friends resolve issues with their electronics and smart devices. Pete was a people lover; he treated strangers as friends he had not yet met. He enjoyed retaining contact with his beloved Gagner family and especially enjoyed times with his sister in-law Diane Finucci and his brother-in-law Bob Joncas. He loved living creatures and adored his pets. A memorial event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 8502, PO Box 1498, Westport, MA 02790.



INGRAM .. ... East Lyme - Raymond F. "Ray" Ingram Sr., age 82, of East Lyme, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 30, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in New London, Feb. 26, 1941, the son of George R. and Marian Mastrandrea Pedersen
Raymond was married to Kathleen Menzie Dec. 7, 1963. Kathleen passed away May 1, 2017. He married DiAnn Bailey Morrison Jan. 2, 2019.
Raymond graduated from Northeastern University in 1964, with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. In 1968, he received his master's degree in electrical engineering from UConn and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from URI in 1972. He had fifty years of experience performing research and development in support of submarine communications; thirty-six years of experience as gained as an employee of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center; and the most recent fourteen years as a contractor supporting at Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Much of his experience involves various aspects of extremely low frequency (ELF) communications systems. Recent experience includes work on communication theory and system performance prediction in support of NUWC's UHF low profile antenna program and the NGBCA improvement program. Upon retirement from NUWC, he became a private contractor with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). His work took him all over the world. He wrote many articles which were published at numerous times throughout his life. 
He was a good athlete and talented man. In his younger days, he played softball with the Underwater Sound Lab Team. He hunted and was a lifetime member of the Rod and Gun Club. He also loved woodworking and was and avid fan of the UConn women's basketball team. He loved walking the Niantic Boardwalk with DiAnn and going to the beach. He lived life to the fullest. 
Besides his wife DiAnn, he is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Ingram-Noniewicz and her husband Paul of Lyme; his son Raymond F. Ingram Jr. of Waterford; his two sisters, Sondra Ingram Alexander and husband Gilbert of Mashpee, Mass., and Joanne Pederson and her wife Ann Meitzen of Dighton, Mass.; as well as two grandchildren, Raymond F. Ingram III and Lindsey Noniewicz. When Ray and DiAnn were married, he became part of a larger extended family that included DiAnn's three daughters, Kelli and Monti Vigliotti, Jill and Richard Greene and Dana and Michael Sadler; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 


PETERSON .. .. Edward "Pete" Patterson, 72, of Bruce, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at his home from complications of agent orange. He was born on Dec. 27, 1950, in Chippewa Falls, to Kenneth and Phylis (Stockman) Patterson. Pete married Carol Worley, and they later divorced. He then married Betsy Prueher in 1995.
Pete was drafted in 1970 to the US Navy. He served his country until 1991. Yes, he joined the Navy and to see the world, but he saw it in a submarine. He retired from the Navy and went to the tech college in Rice Lake where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with an associate degree in quality assurance. He worked for Production Components (Clarion) until 2008. He ran Winterhaven Resort for two years. After that, Pete enjoyed his daily trips to the local establishments where he watched sports, betting occasionally and exchanging conversations as he enjoyed a cold, delicious Old Style in a bottle.
 He is survived by his son, Michael (Amy) Patterson; two step-children, Ann (Tony) Bohl and Chuck (Heather) Prueher; two grandchildren, Guinivere and Zelotus Patterson; two step-grandchildren, Robbie and Jacob Bohl; two sisters, Sheila Rooney and Shannon "Dolly" McNamara and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Phylis Patterson; step-father, Vern Rubenzer; his brother, Kenneth Patterson; two sisters, Sharon Powers and Shirley (Don) Meyer and three brothers-in-law, Micky McNamara, Ronnie Rooney and Bill Powers.
Per Pete's wishes, there will be no service. Burial will be in the spring at Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie next to his parents and brother.
 
SHEPHARD .. .. Maize, Kansas - Stanley "Butch" Shephard, Jr., 77, of Maize, KS, died September 14, 2023 in Wichita as a result of complications from an earlier stroke. Stanley was born in Ottawa, KS to Mary and Stanley Shephard. Butch attended high school in Princeton and Clay Center where he was on the basketball team. After graduation, at age 17, Butch joined the Navy under the "Kiddie Cruiser" program and was stationed on the USS Ronquil submarine. When asked why he volunteered for the submarine service, he said, "because it paid $50 a month more."
After his stint in the Navy, Stanley worked in the auto supply business in Salina, and later Wichita. His easy-going personality and sense of humor made him popular with the customers. In retirement, he loved spending time with his grandkids, Greyson and Alice. He also enjoyed walking his dog, Duffy, and reading crime novels.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Jacklovich and nephew, Michael Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Jean Shephard; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Katie Shephard; grandchildren, Greyson and Alice; sisters, Jane Gilbreath, Jackie Smith and Terry (Richard) Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
