Could have had that sign out for Bill Clinton. What is the Arkancide count up to now?

Back in the day... Dex would have turned this picture into WWIII by now. We would all hate each other, Don would put us in time-out, and Gary would be laughing for a hand well-played. I miss those days.

I miss Dex, too. Was a sad, bitterly cold day we attended his internment at Arlington. I gave him a little pat farewell just before they closed him in with his metric blond. He would have been proud though for all the folks that turned out to send him off. He was well loved.

The last tie I saw Dex was at John Wynn's funeral in Groton. He was in pretty bad shape then and barely able to keep his feet under him, some sort of myopathy of his legs...he was thrilled to see my wife Elsie too, who had a wonderful relation with his wife...The Metric Blond...It's been some time ago. Miss Dex & John.

The day DEX was interred at Arlington, I was going through knee surgery. Wish I could have been there. Last time I saw DEX was at Warshot's internment. I miss him too.

That was 10 years ago yesterday Jon.
Dex was the guy who put that together.
I remember sitting in Dex's livingroom with Warshot box of ashes sitting right there with us.
Oh, I just remembered, you were staying with Dex. You knew that.
Me and Blue were staying with Ol'Goat.
Can't believe it has been that long.
RIP both Warshot and Dex. The only two times I have ever been to Arlington.

Ric, the sea stories between DEX, OlGoat, you and Paul Hartridge had Patti in stitches. She said she was laughing so hard and so much, her face hurt from it. I'm glad you two got together. Chalk up another one for DEX.

Let’s face it Dex was a unique character. Despite a few online differences of opinion with him, I did respect and enjoy his hilarious stories and tales of the submarine service. The man was an absolute master wordsmith without the need for correct grammar and punctuation to elaborate his tales. He made a massive difference to you and those beyond with his storytelling and writing skills. The man should be a national treasure.

Exactly.  He wasn't ALL peace & love.  I've witnessed that.

RIP SHIPMATE, Rest Your Oar.

If you were, or respected Vietnam Veterans, you had a hard time accepting Dex. However, he does deserve to rest in peace.

I must have missed something here, I'm familiar with the arguments, feuds, and odd skirmishes Dex had that were visible here, but please clue me in on this connection of being or not respecting Vietnam Veterans.  I'm not trying to be difficult, but my memory is fading,  Also I resemble being one, but can't remember Dex being anti either.

I completely understood, but still thought it funny when Dex's best friend "Warshot" hated the Japanese and refused to ever buy one.  I loved Dex's sea stories, but his story of the guy in DC Dex bought his daily paper from that was killed for his sleeping bag really hit hard.  I probably could have not lasted thirty seconds in a room with Dex without getting into an argument, but I appreciated and respected him - I probably could never live up to his take on Duty, Honor, Country.

I even thought it was funny when Blue and Dex got in it over something political and Dex anointed Blue with Dex's own unique spelling of "Foreigner".  That went on for quite a while, but I believe they made up.  I appreciated both, but was amazed at what could ruffle Dex's feathers.

Had everything to do with his opinion and treatment of Vietnam Vets. Especially if you believed what he claimed to have done in his job context. I will let it go at that.

Could somebody help me out here?  Was his treatment of us bad?  Did he ignore Vietnam Vets over WW II Veterans?  I don't mean to argue, I just never remember him being offensive on those that served then.

There is a lot more from his postings on Ron's board, but he is gone, so like I said, let him rest.
