Subject: Wednesday Obit

KING, Roger, 69, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Mary (Sunseri) King, died peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2017, with his wife by his side. Roger was born on March 4, 1948, in Hartford, CT, son of the late Fredd and Elsie (Nelson) King. He was a graduate of South Windsor High School, Class of 1967. He served our country with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam aboard the USS Flying Fish (SSN-673), a Sturgeon class nuclear attack submarine. Roger married the love of his life, Mary, in 1972, and they settled in South Windsor. He received a heart transplant in 1996, graduated Manchester Community College in 1998, and became a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counselor with Community Solutions Inc. He enjoyed casino trips, video games, The Los Angeles Dodgers, and the open road, and was an avid fisherman. He loved bass fishing with family and friends locally, and on Lake Ontario. He was proud of the home he built in South Windsor and took pride in his yard. Roger was most proud to be a father and grandfather, and enjoyed every moment he spent with his grandsons who called him "Poppie." Along with Mary, his wife of 45 years, he leaves his son, Andrew King and his girlfriend Sheila English of Manchester; his daughter, Amanda Fee and her husband Brian of Manchester; his Grandsons, Patrick and Benjamin of Manchester; his brothers, Ralph King and his wife Christine of FL, Eddie King and his wife Emmy of NC, Ronnie King and his wife Ginette of Norwich; his half-brother, Donald King and his wife Gail of CA; and many Nieces and Nephews and dear friends. His family will receive friends on Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 11 to 1 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a service in the funeral home to begin at 1pm. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor. Memorial donations may be made to: New England Donor Services.
