WEATHERSON, Harvey Donald, RADM (SC), USN, Ret., passed away June 13,2017, after a prolonged illness. He joined the USNA Class of 1960 after High School in Washington, D.C. He participated in track and field and varsity gymnastics as a midshipman and joined the Supply Corps in 1960, when he married his high school sweetheart Jean Clark Weatherson, who died in 2010, after 50 years of magnificent marriage. He married again in 2012 to Joanne Sherry Weatherson, sharing five years of a second magnificent marriage and wonderful bond together. His wife, Joanie, three daughters, one son and their spouses, three stepsons and a stepdaughter and 10 grandchildren survive him. His naval career spanned 33 years of diverse and great tours of duty, including graduation from Submarine School and much of his career serving in submarines of the fleet and Pentagon. He attended the University of Kansas, earning an MS in Petroleum Management in 1970. His sea tours included the USS Taluga (AO-62), USS George Washington (SSBN-598), and USS L.Y. Spear (AS-36), Submarine Squadron Six, and two tours with COMSUBLANT in Norfolk. He commanded the Naval Supply Center of Jacksonville, the Defense Reutilization Center in Battle Creek, and the Navy Exchange Service Command, retiring in 1993. Following retirement, Don was employed by Compaq Computer Corporation (later combined with Hewlett-Packard) in various senior positions, retiring again in 2002 as their Vice President for Operations and Strategy. Subsequently he worked briefly for PC Connection, Inc. of Merrimack, New Hampshire serving on their Board of Directors and Chairman of their Audit Committee until January 2017. Admiral Weatherson was committed to the study of God’s Holy Word and consistently lived the values and precepts he found there. His disciplined and consistent dealings on all levels of his daily life were driven by a truly pure heart and mind. His goal: to introduce all people to his Savior Jesus Christ. Don was active in churches at each assignment, teaching home Bible classes and in public venues. In 2002, he founded the non-profit Community Bible Survey to underwrite year-long Bible classes in various New Hampshire churches, and internet-based daily Bible Reading Guides to assist people in developing a Biblically based theology. He subsequently published two comprehensive books to assist a broader population, Bible Reading for Everyone—The Old Testament Reader’s Guide and Bible Reading for Everyone—The New Testament Reader’s Guide. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London, NH and attended Grace Immanuel Bible Church of Jupiter, Florida. He was buried at the Old Main Street Cemetery in New London, New Hampshire, where Don and Joanne have their primary residence. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London, NH.
