ROBERTS, David Michael, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Sacramento, CA David was born January 30, 1964 at Eloise Hospital, Wayne County, Michigan. Raised in Ann Arbor and Saline, Michigan. During his youth he was an avid sports fan and athlete, participating in both the Ann Arbor Youth Baseball and Junior Wolverine Football programs. After high school, David enlisted in the United States Navy where he served three years on a nuclear submarine. Concluding his tour in the Navy, David's wanderlust and sense of adventure led him to living in all parts of the US...from the coast of New England, to the Mid-West, the northern Rockies of Montana, and finally settling in Sacramento, California where he has resided for the past eighteen years. In all of his travels two things remained constant, first his love of cooking, (from diners to High-end restaurants), always combining past local cuisine to his menus. Second, was his undying passion for U of M football. Knowing David's unique sense of humor and his love to debate, we're sure this led to many "lively and heated discussions", no matter what part of the country he was living. Survived by: his parents, Norman and Betty Roberts, three sisters, Julie Tate, Gayle (Ted) Drews, Trudy (Gary) Nollar, four nephews, Ian and Ryan Walker, Bradley and Matthew Nollar, and one niece Nickole Tate. David is also survived by Sarah Luther, his loving friend and partner. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7:00pm at: Christ Our King Lutheran 3255 Saline-Waterworks Rd. Saline, Michigan. Published in Ann Arbor News on May 25, 2017
