It's odd back then I never missed watching 60 Minutes every Sunday, and yet I don't remember seeing the first program.  We use to sit and stand on the deck gang topside speculating about what was in those hangars on the bow - the Halibut was always all by itself tied up across the channel. I never saw any of the crew drinking at the little sub bar on the base. Blind Man's Bluff was the first time we got an inkling.

I had the honer of meeting Whitey Mack in Groton at a USSVI anniversary celebration. Sherry Sontag was at that anniversary too and autographed our Blind Man Bluff books, as did Whitey Mack. On a personal note, I could not believe how tall Mack was and still fit into smokeboat? When I mentioned that he told me the name of the boat he qualed on, and of course I forgot the name...

LTjg Whitey Mack served aboard USS Sea Robin 1955-58.  Good chance that he qualified during that time.
