I don't know what to think about the deplorable conditions they supposedly are experiencing on this carrier. Granted I had they been at sea for over 200 days straight, but it's hard for me to imagine they are experiencing deplorable conditions on a carrier. First I hear it has been at sea all that time, then I hear it has made very few port in the last 250 days from the west coast. Apparently the George Washington is going to replace it.
I know they can resupply food at sea, but do they do the same with resupplied armament. Also do the escorts remain the same the whole time they've been at sea. Those escorts will have to be refueled at sea or in port many many times - not to mention their crews being on not such luxurious accommodations.
All I can get in my head is we're "winning" by shooting down 40k with $4 million dollar Patriots missiles that we are running out of while Iran is dictating terms maybe of their surrender. Me thinks China, and Russia, and our defense contractors must love this. I worked for Raytheon way before the Patriot missile and imagine times couldn't be better for them.
Anybody have any thoughts on this. |

I believe half of what the media (radio, TV, newspaper) has to say on a daily basis. I beliee even less of what pollsters say with polls. Maybe I'm living a naive life but I sure don't have heartache or worries based on some kids from bubble gum universe telling me "exactly" what is going on. I'll stay n my bubble. Done me good so far. |

I’m in agreement with George. I do not believe what the media has spun based on seaman Timmys. Letter to them. 10 years on destroyers, 5 deployments gives me a smidgen of knowledge. Yes, unrep of weapons is common practice, along with chow. Fuel is taken every 3 to 4 days, or 60% capacity. Escorts will sometimes take off for a few days and make a port call. Accommodations on the new cans is on par with new subs. Logistics is out of Bahrain. Fear of attack disrupted supply for a short time. That has been resolved. On the other hand, they have been at sea a long time, I do not believe what Sec of Defense says, the morale is very high. I wonder what the re-enlistment and divorce % is.
I agree with you about the cost of missiles, and drain on stock piles. Let us not forget the economics we are dealing with. If you look back on my posts I predicted we would lose this war, and I stand by that prediction.

The US prepared for a short war and ended up with a longer then planned for excursion.
The mold in the showers problem speaks to "what are the sailors doing on Friday Field Day??"  |
