At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

This supposedly is Mare Island after WWII.  Maybe a few made it back to service,

Thanks Gary for that.  I was hoping to see my reserve center boat the Roncador there - it wound up in the 60's  at Terminal Island for our monthly meetings, and to accommodate Ric with a place to shower.  Also at Hunters Point we had a non active boat attached to the sub school.  It wasn't the Pompanito that wound up in San Fran, but probably is there in that picture - problem is I can't even remember its name.
