Just finished reading the above book about the WWll story of Mush Morton and the USS Wahoo. I didn't know that Dick O'Kane was already on the Wahoo when Mush reported aboard. Morton had a large personality and got along with all his crew including the enlisted men.O'kane liked him too, however he thought his actions at sea were far too aggressive. This coming from O'Kane who wanted to get rid of the CO he served under as XO before Morton because he thought he was far too unaggressive...

Wake of the Wahoo is a riveting book by the yeoman under Mush. Lots of crew stories.

He got off Wahoo just as she departed Wake on her final patrol. He says in the book "I watched till she disappeared from sight in a rain squall. Forever. ".

Well worth reading if you can find it.
