The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

John C. McKinley, 94, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on September 21, 2026.
Born May 29, 1932, in Washington DC to Howard W. McKinley and Marian C. McKinley, John lived a life defined by service, adventure, and devotion to his family and the mountains he loved.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College (Colorado State University) before entering the U.S. Navy, where he served on active duty and in the reserves for 30 years, rising to the rank of Commander. As a Naval Nuclear Power Officer, John was personally interviewed and hired by Admiral Hyman Rickover, and in 1957 he served aboard the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world's first nuclear submarine. In the early 1960s, he conducted nuclear power safety research in Idaho, and went on to oversee nuclear reactor safety for the remainder of his career, rising to the upper echelons of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
John married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" L. McKinley, who preceded him in death on May 1, 2024.
Beyond his distinguished career, John was an active member of the National Ski Patrol for over 35 years and served as Scoutmaster for 10 years, helping shape young people through his commitment to the outdoors. A passionate skier and true outdoorsman, he loved hiking, camping, canoeing, driving his ATV, and working around his beloved cabin in Glen Haven. Proud of his Scottish heritage, John was commonly seen in a kilt. He was a member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church.
John is survived by his sons, David J. McKinley (Jessica McKinley) and Mark C. McKinley (Lisa A. McKinley) and his grandchildren, Michaela, Matthew, Emily, Mary Elizabeth, and Margaret.  He was preceded in death by his son Keith H. McKinley.

LOPEZ .. .. .. Joseph Edward Lopez, a longtime resident of Hayward, was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Calumet City, IL. The oldest of four children, his siblings are Michael (Gina), William (Debi), and Mary Ann.
He joined the U.S. Navy after high School and after boot camp spent his entire enlistment in the Submarine Service, serving on two missile subs and one fast attack sub. He was qualified on submarines on the George Washington Carver SSBN. Upon completion of his enlistment (1972-1976) he moved to California where he lived his entire adult life.
He proudly served his country on Navy Nuclear Submarines and then later in life his community. After the military, he worked at General Motors and then NUMMI while going to college to earn a degree in computer programming. He transitioned from working on the NUMMI manufacturing line to being part of their IT team.
In 1979 while doing his laundry at the apartment complex he met his best friend and the love of his life, Donna J. Treglown. They were inseparable from the moment they met.
They were married December 27, 1982, and had four children, Joseph Jonathan Peter, Peter Joseph Jonathan, Alyssa Jacqueline, and Alexandra Janine.
He was activly involved in his family activities including youth basketball, baseball, and as a soccer coach. He enjoyed cruising with the family, sitting on the balcony enjoying the waves and visiting foreign ports.
Although not being fond of heights, he earned his private and commercial pilots' licenses, stood on the SkyWalk at the Grand Canyon, took his wife to the top of the Eifel Tower, Empire State Building, Stratosphere, and the Space Needle. He rode the London Eye, and experienced the John Hancock Tilt and Sears (Willis) Tower glass bottom ledges in Chicago. He was an amazing man.
His involvement in their children's activities went from serving on the Hayward Youth Soccer Board to serving four years on the Hayward Unified School District Board of Education. He coached youth soccer as well as being a referee and actively supporting their little league teams and CYO basketball.
Joseph worked various jobs in the IT community for his career. He excelled at IT programming and project management. He retired from Longs Drugs in 2009 where he had supported the pharmacy unit.

STORK .. .. .. John B. Stork, age 83, of Media, Pennsylvania, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him beyond measure.
John proudly served his country in the United States Navy, spending months at a time deployed aboard submarines. His time beneath the sea gave him a lifetime of stories, which he was always happy to share when asked. His grandkids especially loved hearing about Pop's adventures aboard the submarine and would often prompt him for another story. Tales of breaking up fights among stir-crazy sailors who had been underwater together a little too long were always a favorite. His wife's favorite was the time John returned home from a long deployment sporting such an impressive beard that he looked more like a mountain man than a sailor. Those stories, and the voice that told them, will be deeply missed.
But the greatest story of John's life was Maxine.
John and Maxine (née Hedrick) shared a love story for the ages. They met in true Northeast Philly fashion. Maxine had gone with a girlfriend to visit her boyfriend, who hung out at a local deli where John worked. Somewhere along the way, John and Maxine locked eyes over a hoagie, and that was pretty much that. They dated through his Navy deployments, became engaged at Maxine's prom, and married a year later. Through all the years that followed, their love story continued.
John's happiest times were spent with his wife and the family they built together. He loved the ocean, and really, just about any body of water, along with camping, fishing, and crabbing. He passed that love on to his daughters, teaching them to camp, fish, crab, and appreciate the ocean as much as he did. Thanks to their dad, all three of his girls can clean a fish like a pro, a somewhat unusual but very useful part of his legacy.
John had a long career in electronics, with security systems becoming his specialty. He had an extraordinary mechanical mind and an ever-curious nature, always wanting to understand how things worked. Within the family, he was simply known as "the Fixer." Whether it was a television, a car, an appliance, or an entire kitchen or bathroom that needed to be torn apart and rebuilt, John could usually figure it out. There was very little he couldn't repair, rebuild, or improve. And somehow, more often than anyone could explain, a clothespin found its way into the solution.
That curiosity and love of learning became part of John's legacy. It can be seen in the generations that followed, in engineers and computer gurus, salespeople and problem-solvers, educators, writers, artists, nurses and doctors. Their paths may be different, but that instinct to ask questions, learn something new, and figure things out can be traced right back to John.
John was the ultimate girl dad, long before being a "girl dad" was a thing. He and Maxine raised three daughters, and while John never had a son of his own, life more than made up for it in the next generation. His grandchildren brought plenty of boys into the family, and John embraced every bit of the noise, chaos, fishing, teasing, and fun that came with them.
Above all else, John was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an enormously proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his world, and there was never any question how much he loved them. In return, Pop was deeply and completely loved.
John was the devoted husband of Maxine (née Hedrick); loving father of Kim Vearling (Steven Coccodrilli), Tammy (the late Andy) Grethen, and Kathy (Alan) Hecht; cherished grandfather of Emily (Chase), Kyle, Eric, Olivia, Ethan, Joel, Alex, Ryan, Bryan, Carson, and Luke; step-grandfather of John and Andrew; and proud great-grandfather of Levi, Noa, and Jesse.
