I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
KONSUGAR .. .. .. Brian Konsugar, Age 70, passed away August 11, 2026. Born on September 19, 1955, and raised in Rostraver Township, PA, Brian was a man of remarkable intellect, dedicated military service, and enduring resilience.
Brian pursued his passion for science at California University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in Physics. During his junior year, his exceptional abilities led to his selection for the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program. Commissioned as an Ensign in 1977, he completed Nuclear Power School from 1977 to 1978. His military service included key leadership roles as the Main Propulsion Assistant aboard the fast-attack submarine USS Guitarro (SSN-665) in San Diego, CA, and later as Submarine Group Ten Operations Officer in New London, CT.
After leaving active duty in 1984, Brian made San Diego his home and joined Sonalyst, Inc. He continued his dedication to country through the U.S. Navy Reserve, eventually attaining the distinguished rank of Captain before retiring from military service in 1997.
Outside of his career, Brian lived life with energy and passion. He was an avid cyclist, scuba diver, woodworker, and guitarist. Following a severe bicycle accident in 2003 that resulted in traumatic head injury, Brian required assisted living support for the remainder of his life. Despite these immense challenges, Brian's spirit remained undaunted. Throughout every adversity, he kept a remarkably positive outlook, bringing joy to those around him with his ready smile and happy demeanor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carolyn Konsugar, and his brother, Jeffrey Konsugar.
Brian is survived by his devoted siblings: his brother, Bruce E. Konsugar of Eighty Four, PA, and his sister, Marcy L. Wilson of Annapolis, MD.
Brian was a wonderful brother, a steadfast officer, and an inspiration of strength and positivity to all who knew him. He will be terribly missed and forever remembered.
PRITCHARD .. .. .. Charles L. Pritchard, age 81, beloved husband of Kathleen L. (Welch) Pritchard, died Saturday at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with his family at his side.
He was born in Wichita, KS, April 23, 1935, a son of the late James and LaVerne (Hall) Pritchard and was raised in Kansas City, MO. having moved to Billerica in 1965.
Mr. Pritchard proudly served in the U.S. Navy having sailed on both the USS Greenfish and later the USS Abraham Lincoln Ballistic Missile Submarine.
He was employed as a Technical Writer for Lockheed Martin for 30 years having retired in 1998. After retirement, he worked at O’Connor Hardware in Billerica. He was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and was involved in their RCIA program and a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus.
Besides his wife, Mr. Pritchard is survived by his sons, Michael Pritchard and his wife, Kimberly of Lawrence, Thomas Pritchard and his wife, Holly of Westford, and James Pritchard and his husband, Steven of Billerica; his daughters, Michelle Travis and her husband, Sean of Wilmot, NH, and Lisa Ayn Ayres and her husband, Walter of Kinston, NC; his sisters, Barbara Jones of CA, and Delilah Wagner of MO.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
