I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
CROCKFORD .. .. .. Richard Travis Crockford, Sr, 84, of Virginia Beach was called up to the Lord on May 6, 2026. Born in Winchester, Mass., he was a graduate of Winchester High School class of 1959. He was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Ernest Harold Crockford, his mother, Eleanor Comeau, and his beloved wife of 57 years, Ellen Kay Crockford. He is survived by his sister, Janet Comeau, and his three sons: Richard T. Crockford Jr. and his wife, Soja; Kevin P. Crockford and his wife, Jennifer; and Michael D. Crockford and his wife, Crystal.He was loved by his grandchildren: Addison, Kayleigh, Michael, Mackenzie, Ryan, Ariel, Reagan, and his great-granddaughter, Felicity.
Rich served 22 years active duty in the United States Navy as an Electronic Technician Master Chief (Submarine Service). He retired from US Navy Guided Missiles School – Dam Neck, Va in 1981. He was also a retired Logistics Analyst at Tenneco/Newport News Shipyard. He was a member of the VFW post 4809 where he served several years as their Quartermaster. He was an active member of the United States Submarine Veterans – Hampton Roads Base.
Rich enjoyed being a Multi-sport Coach, Baseball Commissioner, and Sport Teams Photographer at Woodstock Recreation League for many years.
He enjoyed photography, NASCAR, napping, and his dogs. Most of all he enjoyed being involved in his family’s life.
He was a son, husband, father, friend, mentor, and a hero to his sons. He will be greatly missed.
