The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.
I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
EMERSON .. .. .. Carl Calvin Emerson, 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Born on July 4, 1953, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Carl was the beloved son of Almeda Wilson and Ralph Emerson Sr. A graduate of Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, Carl went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University in 1971 on a football scholarship. His path led him to serve honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Snook (SSN 592) submarine until 1980. During his service, Carl trained as a Nuclear Power student in 1973 and earned recognition as an ELT and EWS for sea trials. Following his military service, Carl continued his education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. He later built a successful civilian career with Ameren Electric in Missouri, where he worked as a Nuclear Rad/Chem Supervisor until his retirement. In his later years, he played a key role in the decommissioning of a nuclear plant in San Clemente, California. Carl had a deep love for music—especially the works of Bob Dylan—cheered passionately for the Raiders, enjoyed trips to the casino, and treasured time spent with his family. KIESEL .. .. .. David Kiesel, devoted husband, proud father, Navy submarine veteran, and longtime Branch Manager for City Electric Supply (CES), passed away unexpectedly in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 59.
Born on March 22, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa, David brought Midwestern integrity and resilience to everything he touched—from the quiet depths beneath the ocean’s surface during his military service to the bustling needs and demands at CES. His technical acumen and steady leadership made him a cornerstone at CES, yet it was his wit, humility, and tireless mentorship that set him apart.
David was a loyal teammate, a calm problem-solver under pressure, and someone who made even the most complex projects feel achievable. After his Naval career, his transition into the Civilian sector, his transition into tech was seamlessly, driven by a curiosity that never dulled.
At home, he was the steadfast partner to his wife Emelie (Ely), with whom he shared a love of travel, making and enjoying fine foods, and quiet times at home. He beamed with pride when speaking of his son Christopher, always encouraging his path with quiet strength and unwavering belief.
Whether in the control room of a submarine or the halls of a convention center, David carried himself with a gentle authority and a wry sense of humor that caught you off guard—in the best way. His presence was grounding, and his absence leaves a silence filled with admiration and love.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
