The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

RESCORL .. .. .. Robert Rescorl, age 77, of Vernon, CT, passed away on July 16th at Hartford Hospital. Bob is the child of Albert and Bessie Rescorl of Seneca Falls, NY. He grew up in a large loving family with 7 siblings. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. George Washington Carver, a nuclear submarine, during the Vietnam War. He had a successful career as a nuclear engineer, obtained a master's degree in engineering, and was granted multiple U.S. patents. He met his wife Donna while serving in the navy; they were married 51 years. They have one daughter, Lynn O'Neill. Robert loved to golf, travel, and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Robert and Tommy. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, and grandfather. Robert is predeceased by his parents and sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Lynn, grandsons Robert and Thomas, and siblings William, Cathy, Theresa, Mary, Elizabeth, and Albert.

SHUMAN .. .. .. Colonie – Alfred P. Shuman, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 5, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Boston, he is the son of the late Sidney and Marion (Silverstein) Shuman.
Al proudly served our country in The United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He served on the U.S.S. Nautilus which was the first nuclear powered submarine in The United States Naval Fleet. He was onboard when they performed their first under ice submersion under the Arctic Circle, a memory he was very proud of. After serving, Al went on to work as an Engineer for G.E. for more than 30 years until his retirement. Al will always be remembered by his family as someone who loved to cook, was a social butterfly, was well traveled and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Rose Shuman. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother who was killed in the Vietnam War.

DALY .. .. .. I received a call from Cathy Daly yesterday to inform me that our shipmate, CWO2 Jerry ‘Bill’ Daly, USN, Ret. had gone on Eternal Patrol on 24 June 2025 due to renal failure. The date for his service has not been set due to a date error on the Death Certificate. Cathy said she is waiting for the state to issue an updated certificate and then the Jacksonville National Cemetery can schedule the internment service.  Bill earned his dolphins on the USS Daniel Boone (SSBN-629) in 1970. He went on to serve on Wahoo, Ethan Allen, Sam Rayburn, and the Cincinnati. He also served on the USS Holland (AS-32) and retired off the USS Shreveport (LPD-12) Prior to commission as a Warrant Officer, he was a STSCS(SS) and served at the Fleet ASW Training Center as an instructor in San Diego and as the senior enlisted advisor at the Fleet ASW Training Center in Pearl Harbor.

REEVES .. .. .. Dr. Charles “Stewart” Reeves, age 88, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Balfour Central Park in Denver, Colo.
Stewart was born in Louisburg, Kan., to Charles Hunter Reeves and Alta Mae (Ring) Reeves. After graduating from Louisburg High School, Stewart joined the United States Navy and attended The University of Kansas (KU) for both his undergraduate and medical degrees.
Overall, Captain Reeves served 38 years for our country. His military postings took him to provide medical care in many Naval hospitals across the United States and overseas, including Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, Washington, Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, and even under the sea. He was the chief medical officer on the submarine U.S.S. Thomas Jefferson SSBNG18. Once retired from the Navy, Stewart worked as an internist and chief of staff at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan., for 20 years.
When Stewart was in his medical training at KU, he was working rounds in the emergency department. Harriett Louise Carr happened to stumble in with a minor head injury and Stewart oversaw her care. The two were married in Fort Scott on June 5, 1965. They had two children: Catherine Carr Reeves Kilanoski and Charles Hunter Reeves, II.
Stewart loved golfing, listening to classical music, reading about history, drinking scotch, enjoying Harriett’s homecooked meals and going on many memorable vacations with her and their friends. In the wintertime, he and Harriett would retreat to San Antonio, Texas, for relief from the harsh Fort Scott winters. Above all, Stewart loved spending time with his children and four grandchildren: Hannah, Emmah, Hunter, and Hollis.
Stewart is survived by his daughter, Catherine; four grandchildren Hannah Brandt (Caleb), Emmah Dikeman (Miles), Hunter Reeves (Madi), Hollis Reeves and one great-grandchild, Harlan Leann Brandt.
Stewart is preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Harriett Reeves; son, Hunter Reeves, II; and daughter-in-law, Talitha Ann (Tally) Brown Reeves and son-in-law, Joe Kilanoski.

HEINTZ .. .. .. Robert "Bob" Joseph Heintz, age 84, of Greenville, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 8, 1940 in Rochester, New York to the late Joseph L. and Alice K. (Klue) Heintz.

Soon after Bob was born, the family moved back to their home town of Geneva, N.Y. where Bob entered St. Stephen's Elementary School. He then went on to graduate from DeSales Catholic School in 1958. Bob enjoyed playing football at DeSales and scored the winning touchdown in the historic 1957 DeSales vs Geneva High game. It was the first DeSales win in 55 years to defeat their rival Geneva High School.

Immediately following his 1958 graduation, Bob enlisted in the US Navy. During his 20 year Navy career he served aboard 4 submarines: USS Conger, USS Sablefish, USS Sea Fox, and USS Trigger. His final year, he served aboard the USS Independence air craft carrier. After retiring from the Navy in 1979 he started with Mesto Automation as the Midwest Technical Service Manager and retired in 2006. Bob was a proud veteran and submariner. As a member of the Wisconsin SubVets, he served on the board as both treasurer and secretary.

On May 23, 1964 Bob married Karen Pelling at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Geneva, N.Y. In 2025 they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together they enjoyed traveling the world while Bob was in the Navy, and have very much enjoyed residing in Greenville, WI since 1983. Robert especially enjoyed being a grandfather. It was often said that Bob would be a great "family man"…and that he surely has proven to be! During his youth, Bob had been active in the Boy Scouts enjoying summer camping and canoeing. Later in life, while living in Northern Maine, he became Scout Leader of son Travis's troop and shared his joy of canoeing and family camping. Bob was a long time member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Greenville, and participated at many Grandparent-Appreciation-Days at St. Mary School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Karen; his children, Kristine Sabee and Travis (Julie) Heintz; his grandchildren, Matthew (Samantha) Berrens, Andrew Heintz, Adam Heintz; and great grandson, Joseph Berrens. He is further survived by his sister, Katherine (Wayne) Serabia of Coeur d' Alene, ID; and sister-in-law, Janet Pelling of Phelps, N.Y.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Dwight Sabee.
