The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

CHAPMAN .. .. .. John Chapman, 69, of Melbourne FL passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. He was born on November 18, 1955 in Detroit, MI, to the late Walter and Lahoma Chapman.

John served in the United States Navy starting in 1980 and was honorably discharged in 1992. He then spent three years in the Naval Reserve. He took great pride in his service career, particularly as a member of the Submarine Service with tours on boats like the USS John Adams, USS Tennessee, and working for the Naval Ordnance Test Unit at Cape Canaveral.

He was married to Annette (Tabacynzki) Chapman, a fellow Navy Veteran, for 44 years. Together, they moved more than ten times getting the opportunity to see the United States together with their two children. While he loved the food culture of Detroit, he opted for sunny winters and an endless supply of oranges in Florida after his Naval career. John spent the remainder of his career working in electronics with Dictaphone, Nuance, and Microsoft before retiring in 2025.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annette, son John (Nancy), daughter Amanda (Jason), his six grandchildren, and siblings Rebecca, Suzanne, and Scott (Cheryl).

PERRIT .. .. .. Robert Perritt passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on October 13, 2025 at L+M Hospital after a valiant 3 ½ year battle with cancer.
Bob was born at L+M Hospital, the son of Reginald Wilbur and Constance Ash Perritt. He grew up in Waterford and enjoyed his childhood on the Sound. After graduating from Waterford High School, Bob joined the Navy where he qualified on submarines and was stationed on the Thomas Jefferson. During his second patrol Bob became a Blue Nose (he crossed the Artic Circle underwater). Bob’s his favorite numbers were 618 because he joined the Navy on 6/18 and the Jefferson’s number was 618. His naval career lasted 9 years.
After leaving the Navy, Bob found a rewarding career in software. In the late 1970’s he helped design heart monitor software. In 1982, he started Digital Strategies in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Three years later, he moved the company to Southampton, New York.
Always a problem solver, Bob worked with insurance companies, a prestigious bake shop, an innovative garden center, world renown pharmaceutical companies, a national accounting
firm, and the list goes on. Computers and software were Bob’s passion, for him, it never felt like work and he could be found in his office all hours of the night writing code.
The other half of Bob’s life was filled with family. He married his wife Suzan on September 26, 1998 and became an important part of the lives of Sara, Nick and Eric. Bob was steadfast in his support with the caveat being if Mom is happy, Bob is happy. He also made life long connections with his grandchildren. Bob attended sporting events, plays, taught them woodworking and technologies, visited with them across the country, and spared no expense to make them feel loved.
Bob’s admiration of the Navy never wavered and in 1997, he joined Sub Vets. Over the years he held many positions at the Groton Base including Base Vice Commander, Base Treasurer, Membership/Records Chairman, Software Architect, and Webmaster. He was also a recipient of the USSVI Robert Link National Commander’s Award.
The family appreciates the kind and compassionate care Bob received at Smilow Cancer Center, and from Heather, his Masonicare Hospice nurse. The family also wants to thank and recognize the incredible staff on 6.2 at L+M Hospital for the outstanding care and concern Bob and Suzan received.
He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Suzan Donatello Perritt, three stepchildren, Sara Liddon (John), Nicholas Borden (Andrea) and Eric Borden (Beth). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren. Bob is survived by his brothers William and John Perritt and his sister Margaret Genung. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard Perritt.

TAYLOR .. .. .. Captain Patterson Corwin Taylor, US Navy (Ret.), passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, where he and his beloved wife, Karen, had lived since 1977. Born in Honolulu in 1933, Pat graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1955 and married Karen O’Beirne the following year. Over his 28-year naval career, he served aboard six submarines, commanding both the USS Argonaut and USS Grampus, and earned recognition for his distinguished service.
After retiring in 1983, Pat devoted himself to woodworking, leading the Tidewater Woodworkers Guild for 23 years. He crafted cherished family heirlooms and built wooden trains for Toys-for-Tots. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Terry Wadsworth, sons Cory, Mike, and Chris, predeceased daughter Pam, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

FELL .. .. .. Gregory James Fell, of Sylvania, OH, passed from this life on October 13, 2025. He was born May 25, 1946, to the late Rolland E. and Velma L. (Atz) Fell, in Toledo, OH. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1964 graduate of Toledo St. Francis de Sales High School. He served his country aboard United States Navy submarines from 1966 until 1969, when he received a disability retirement. He earned the designation of "Qualified in Submarines." After the Navy, he lived in FL, CT, and MA. In 1980, Greg returned to Toledo to be with his father, who was battling prostate cancer. He also did volunteer work in the Common Space office for many years. This is where he met future wife, Amy.

His marriage to Amy L. Siewert on June 25, 1994, was the best thing that ever happened to him. They were inseparable. They travelled extensively, by air, van, motorhome and cruise ships. He loved working with her in support of her creative projects. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; super brother, Terry Fell; and sister, Diane Neptune.

Surviving to celebrate his life are three wonderful sisters, Sharon Peoples, Marcia (Greg) Obarski, Vicky Gedeon; in-laws, Duane (Paula) Siewert; many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
