The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

RED .. .. .. Michael Lee Red, age 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 29, 2026, in Branford, Connecticut.
Born in Washington, D.C. on August 21, 1942, Michael lived in Washington, D.C. and South Miami before moving to Key West, Florida. He played solo trumpet in his high school band, sparking a lifelong love for music, particularly jazz.
In 1960, Michael proudly answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy and serving honorably through 1967. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Connecticut-bringing his journey full circle decades later-and spent time aboard several submarines during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he began his civilian career at the University of Maryland, working in nuclear energy, computers, and electronics.
Outside of his professional life, he was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders and loved sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Throughout his life, Michael and his family loved dogs-always keeping a faithful canine companion at home. He fondly remembered his days playing trumpet as he watched his daughter, Sara, play in her high school band.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lila Red, and his stepfather, Calvin Jackson Red. He is survived by his wife, Penny Thompson; his daughter and son-in-law, Sara (Red) and Scott Edmond; and his granddaughters, Parker and Brighton.

MCLARTY .. .. .. Dr. William Theron McLarty, Jr., of Vinings, Georgia, passed September 11, 2026, in Atlanta. He was 84.
At the center of his life was his enduring marriage to Donna Wilson McLarty, whom he reconnected with at the University of Mississippi in 1963 after first meeting at University High School. They married on August 1, 1964, and shared fifty-eight years together until her death in 2022, raising three daughters and a son in Atlanta.
Theron loved his family, and he loved his patients, devoting his professional life to their wellbeing through his psychiatric practice. After medical school and service as a Navy medical officer on the Francis Scott Key submarine, he came to Atlanta in 1970 to complete his psychiatric residency at Emory University. Theron then joined the newly established Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna in 1976 as the Adult Unit Medical Director and subsequently built a long and distinguished psychiatric practice. He served as president of the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association from 1981 to 1982, was named Georgia's Top Psychiatrist in 1987, and later worked with players through the NFL Players Association.
Born July 20, 1942, in Oxford, Mississippi, to Pauline Mills McLarty and William Theron McLarty, Sr., he attended University High School, where he was quarterback, senior class president, and "Mr. UHS." He went on to study at the University of Mississippi, first in chemical engineering and then in medicine. During the university's desegregation, he was James Meredith's laboratory partner.
He and Donna joined Northside Drive Baptist Church in Atlanta in 1981. He loved music, family gatherings, supporting and touring with the Atlanta Boy Choir, golf, travel, Kiawah Island, New Orleans, and the Ole Miss Rebels. He greeted fellow alumni everywhere with a hearty "Hotty Toddy."
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, and his parents. He is survived by his four children, Jessica (Gigi) Collins, Jennifer Sardone, Janna Chandler, and William Theron McLarty III, all of the Atlanta area; and ten grandchildren: Liam, Aidan, Henry, and Grace Collins; Cameron Sardone; Emma, Eleanor, and Austin Chandler; and Greta and Elliott McLarty.

FLEET .. .. .. John William Fleet of East Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away on September 27, 2026 at Royal of Cape Cod Nursing Home. He was 79. Born in Hyannis, Massachusetts on March 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Benjamin D. Fleet and Lucile (Hoxie) Fleet.
John grew up in Sandwich and graduated from the Henry T. Wing School, a place woven through generations of his family. Raised on Fleetwood Rd., near Scorton Creek, he found early joy on the water—kayaking and swimming alongside friends and family—carrying forward a spirit of curiosity and courage that remained with him throughout his life.
In 1965, John joined the United States Navy, serving as a Quartermaster on submarines. He was honorably discharged in July of 1969. His service reflected steady resolve and a willingness to meet demanding work with quiet strength.
John later devoted himself to the family business founded by his father in Falmouth, Fleet Tire. He continued his work there after the business was sold to Sullivan Tire and eventually retired. Through years of dedicated effort, he was known for showing up, working hard, and doing what needed to be done—always with a considerate heart for those around him.
He also found freedom in the skies as a private pilot, flying around the Cape and Islands, most often taking off from the grass fields at Marstons Mills airport. That love of flight spoke to an adventurous nature—bold, capable, and unafraid to chart a course forward.
John is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Barrette (Christopher Barrette) of E. Sandwich and Tracy Fleet (Ronald Wood) of Plymouth; his grandsons, Kellen Fleet Barrette and Chase Fleet Barrette of E. Sandwich; his sister, Suzanne McMillan; his brother, Richard Fleet (Candi Fleet); his sister in law, Nancy Fleet; and his significant other, Gayle Potichny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his brothers, Donald Fleet and Kenneth Fleet.
