The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

NEWS: There is now an official Facebook page for USSVI members. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1390786715365311

FULLINWIDER .. .. .. Captain Peter Lansing Fullinwider passed away aged ninety-seven on June 30th, 2025. Born in Hawaii on August 23, 1927, Peter was a man who loved to whistle while he worked. Always "bright and cheery" he had a joy for life, a smile, and a graciousness that exuded the elegance of his generation. Peter almost always wore a jacket and tie, except on the golf course. Outgoing and friendly, he was known to give away $50 bills to random people in need. He loved to putter around the house fixing anything he found with duct tape but hated paperwork of any kind. Peter was a man of integrity, loyalty, respect for others, and a strong faith.
From a proud Navy family, Captain Fullinwider graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1949 and pursued his own distinguished career in submarines during the Cold War. He conducted several pioneering submarine operations including the commissioning tour of the first post-war attack submarine and three of the first patrols with nuclear weapons. Of particular note, he was assigned as a member of the first Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff at Sac Headquarters Omaha in 1960 to 1962, responsible for the preparation of the Single Integrated Operation Plan for all U.S. nuclear weapons. In 1978 he went on to work for General Dynamics.
Peter married Frances Hardwick Newton in 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They had three children: Allyn Fullinwider Jones, Lanse Fullinwider, and Stuart Fullinwider. He has eight grandchildren: Geyer, Tucker, and Sheldon Jones; Kody and Kaci Fullinwider; and Christopher, Cody, and Raquel Fullinwider. He has nine great-grandchildren: Megan and Ella Jones; Levi, Quinn, Bladen, and Rowan Jones; Ryker and Reis Jones; and Phallon Fullinwider. Peter is survived by sisters Ann Whitcomb and Nicole Kohl.
In 1989, Peter married Rowena Stanley Jaap in Norfolk, Virginia, and gained three more children: Mary Frances Bellman, Rowena Post and Joseph Jaap, as well as five grandchildren: Grace and Josephine Bellman, Ethan Post, Payton and Zachary Jaap. Like Peter, Rowena was from a three-generation Navy family. Peter became an enthusiastic promoter of "Rowena's", her family business. Rowena made Peter very happy. A devoted couple and highly active in their community, they made their home in West Ghent in Norfolk, Virginia.

MYERS .. .. .. David Lee Myers of Framingham, MA, passed away on July 8th, 2025. He was born on January 7th, 1949, in Punxsutawney, PA, to the late Thomas and Isabelle (Reitz) Myers. Beloved husband of Donna Marie Arena-Myers. Devoted father of David M. Myers and his wife Jessica of Westerly, RI, Jennifer Nissi and her husband Dan of Washington, VT, and Stephen Arena Sr. and his wife Barbara of Haines City, FL. Loving grandfather of Isabella and Alex Myers, Elijah Genovese, Stephen Jr., Julia, Olivia Arena, and Antonio and Marcello Nissi. Cherished brother of Dorothy Hollis and her late husband, Terry, Thomas Myers and his wife Judy, and William Myers and his late wife Cheryl, all of PA. Dave proudly grew up in Punxsutawney, PA, contributing to the first undefeated-untied football season in the history of the Punxsutawney Area High School, and graduating in 1966. He served in the United States Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician Petty Officer First Class on the USS Swordfish for six years, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and in a nuclear submarine in the Pacific during the Vietnam War. Dave has been decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, a Navy Unit Commendation, and an honorable discharge on July 12th, 1974.
Post-service, Dave pursued a career in civil and nuclear engineering, completing a degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University in 1984. He was a valued employee at Eversource for forty-four years. Additionally, Dave was acknowledged at the 28th Perini Invitational Hockey Tournament in 2000 for his passion and dedication during a fifteen-year career with Framingham Youth Hockey and thirteen years with the Perini Invitational Committee. Dave, “Dad”, “Papa”, enjoyed hunting deer in PA, golfing, sports, and above all, valued quality time with family. His legacy of hard work, perseverance, and commitment lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. The Myers and Arena families extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for their care and to all who sent prayers.
