Member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the USSVI Submarine Veterans where he served as a Base Commander. Husband of Bernadette Dunn nee Sciarra for 30 years; father of Meagan Dunn; brother of Chris (Kim) Dunn and Steven Dunn; brother-in-law of Beth & Mike Reuscher. Preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, and 2 brothers. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21st from 12 PM until time of the Memorial Service at 2 PM at the Ogle & Paul R. Jack was born on July 7, 1945 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Veronica Adas. After high school, Jack joined the United States Navy. He retired after 20 years and 10 month of honorable service. He served aboard 3 submarines. Jack received an Associate's Degree in Technical Arts from Olympic College in Washington. Jack also worked for the Georgia Department of Labor as an inspector and as a technical writer supervisor for General Dynamics. Both of these jobs he retired from. Jack lived in Woodstock, GA for 30 years. He was a very loving family man and loyal friend. As Jack goes on his final patrol, he will be missed by so many left behind. He is survived by his sons, John "Jackie" Adas (Michelle) and David Adas, grandchildren, Aaron, Alyssa, Anna Marie, Bradly and Devin, brothers, Bill and Timothy Adas and sisters, Kathy Trosper, Mary Ingweiller and Darlene Cooper. A funeral service will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10:30am in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow the service at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4-8pm and Sunday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. MATHESON, James Cobb, CAPT, USN, Ret., 95, passed away quietly at his home in Alexandria, VA, on April 28, 2017, of natural causes. Erda R. Matheson, his wife of 33 years, was by his side. Jim was born in Oconomowoc, WI, on September 8, 1921, to the late Forrest D. Matheson and Elisabeth C. Matheson, and spent two years at the University of Chicago before attending the US Naval Academy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years the former Mary Preston Oulahan of Washington, DC. Jim's Naval career included submarine service in the Pacific during World War II [Dace, 7th Patrol] and post graduate degrees at MIT and Harvard Business School. He served under Admiral H. Rickover and was director of the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. Jim retired from the Navy in 1970. After the Navy, Jim served with the Peace Corps in Ecuador and as Director in Jamaica until 1975. He was Vice President of Universities Research Associates, manager of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. During these years he earned a law degree from George Washington University. Jim is survived by his wife, Erda, and four children from his first marriage, Ann, Lily (Jeff Golland), Susan (Patrizia Spiga) and Jim, Jr. He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His stepson, Carl, was a great support to the family during Jim's final year. Captain Matheson will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in the near future. In celebration of his life, his family will receive guests at a reception in his memory from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 25 at Porto Vecchio, 1250 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA.
