GAMBLE, John Peter, 61, of Waterford, died on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Erie on September 24, 1945, he is the son of Marvel Armour Gamble of Waterford and the late Peter John Gamble. He married Denise King on July 21, 1991. A graduate of McDowell High School, John served for six years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a crewmember of the USS Von Steuben (SSBN-632), a nuclear submarine. For the past 22 years until his recent retirement in April, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Erie General Mail Facility. John enjoyed bicycling as a hobby, and was most proud of a trip that he and his wife made in 2004 when they bicycled from Waterford to Denver, Colorado in 33 days. As a man of great faith, John professed his belief in Jesus Christ, loved to read the Scriptures, and boldly witnessed to many. Survivors in his family include his wife, Denise King Gamble; his mother, Marvel Armour Gamble; three sons, Robert J. Gamble of Cape Cod, Mass., Michael W. Sakas of Waterford, and Joseph L. Mellberg and wife Kim of Waterford; and a granddaughter, Grace Mellberg. Private visitation and funeral services will take place. Burial will be in Chapinville Cemetery, Rockdale Township, Crawford County. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Zion, IL 60099. Sign the guestbook at www.GoErie.com/obits SETTINO, Edward P., 83, of Edgewater, FL, a former resident of Mashpee, MA, died Monday, July 23, 2007 from Lung Cancer. Mr. Settino was born on December 20, 1923 in Dorchester, the youngest of five sons of mother, Catherine (Bonaparte) and father Michael. During his high school years, he excelled in athletics, particularly football and baseball and was awarded a scholarship to play minor league baseball at the University of Illinois. However, because of World War 2, he joined the U.S. Navy ultimately serving in the Submarine Service from August 1942 to October 1945. Mr. Settino retired as Group Vice President of Plymouth Rubber in Canton, MA. During his retirement he established his own consulting firm of Settino and Associates and partnered with a long time associate in their factory in the Dominican Republic, making shoe uppers for many of the well known men's shoe factories here in the states. He retired, again, at age 80. Mr. Settino and wife Sally were married on December 30, 1977 at the Bourne Methodist Church. They were very active in RVing and ultimately joined the Good Sam Group on Cape Cod. They traveled extensively much of the 1990's. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Cohasset Country Club before moving to Cape Cod, and the Pocasset Country Club for many years and, when in Florida, belonged to the Fort Myers Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Settino lived in Deer Crossing where he became a Trustee. His hobbies were golf and growing African Violets. In addition to his wife of 29 years, Sally, he leaves three sons; Edward Jr. of Wolfeboro, NH, Robert of Hingham and Scott of Brockton and daughter, Mary Crimmins of Sandwich; two stepsons, Robert Haskell of East Falmouth and Stephen Haskell of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and five step grandchildren. Memorial Services are pending here in Florida and a second Memorial Service will be held in the Fall in Massachusetts. TSEKO, Adam James, 86, of Canyon Lake, CA., passed away on July 21, 2007 at Rancho Springs, Medical, Murrieta, CA., due to complications from Alzheimers. Adam was born on 09/12/1920. He retired from Northrup and served in the Navy for 4 years as a Submariner. He completed the 9th grade and machinist trade school. He participated in CCC's and was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer and Road Runner Club. Adam is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ann Tseko, Canyon Lake; 2 daughters, Marilee Polidoro, Anaheim, Carolyn Fernandez, Cameron Park; 2 sons, James Tseko, Cypress, George Tseko, Huntington Beach; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren plus 2 more soon to be born. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Tseko. Graveside Wed. on 08/01, 11:15am at Riverside National Cemetery, staging #2. His ashes will be scattered at sea.
