Gary L. Patterson

At 1305 May 18 2001, another shipmate has passed on. Gary L. Patterson was a life member of USSVI # L-0973 and a member of USSVI Arizona Perch Base since 1996. Gary is survived by his wife Judy. Cards of condolences may be sent to Judy at 1399 Kelly Dr, Prescott, AZ 86305-8625. Gary will be viewed in full uniform, from 12:00 to 14:00, on Wednesday, May 23rd, which according to his wife, was one of Gary's wishes.
Following the viewing there will be a short Service, followed by a rifle salute in the parking lot conducted by the Prescott American Legion. Gary will then be cremated per his wishes, and his ashes taken to San Diego's Point Loma National Cemetery by his wife, Judy, where he will receive a formal Full Military Service followed by burial at sea by either a U.S Naval surface craft , or submarine. This brings to a end Garys battle of over 2 1/2 years. USSVI Arizona Perch Base shall miss him ........... Very Much.

Gary's Qual Boat was USS Nautilus SSN571, in 1958 as a ET2. He also served on USS Scamp SSN588, from 60-65. USS Mariano G Vallejo SSBN658, from 65-68. USS Halibut SSN587, from 68-70 and the USS Ethan Allen SSBN608 in 74. Gary retired from the Navy as a ETCM(SS). 

Gary was Base Membership chairman for the last 5 years and until his illness made it impossible to function as District 8 director.
